A bit about us

The Chocolate Smiths, based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, began in 2014 when Steffi Smith started making chocolate bars from her tiny kitchen at home. Eleven years later, we have a wonderfully talented team that hand-make thousands of chocolate bars in an industrial unit in North Shields. We sell our chocolate at events, directly from our unit and online, sending our Bizarre chocolate bars worldwide. 

We pride ourselves on our unique innovation and attention to detail. Every single feature matters when it comes to the customer experience that we provide, and now more than ever, we are focusing on building a magical brand that brings excitement and joy to our chocolatey community! We create more than just chocolate. We create experiences to remember. 

All of our team members are integral to the foundation on which we are building. We like to leave no idea unspoken and encourage you to think outside the box. Job Opportunities 

Kitchen Porter and Assistant

Hours : 8am - 11am plus holiday cover

Hourly rate : £12.70 per hour to be reviewed annually in April

Contract type : Permanent with a 2-week probationary period

Location : Unit G19 Tromso Close, North Shields, NE29 7XH

Start Date : Immediate start

As a kitchen porter for our busy chocolate kitchen, you will be responsible for washing our chocolate moulds and utensils by hand. We pride ourselves on making amazing quality chocolate and that all starts with squeaky clean, well-polished moulds. Without them, the process can’t get off to a good start! 

We run a very busy, chocolatey kitchen, so you will also be assisting with cleaning around the kitchen throughout the day between washing up. You will be cleaning microwaves and benches, doing general tidying, and helping with tasks such as removing chocolate products from moulds. We have hundreds of chocolate moulds, and chocolate can be tricky to clean if it is not done properly and thoroughly. Full training would be provided. 

There may be occasional opportunities to assist in the packing area if overtime is available. 

We already have a fantastic kitchen porter who works 11am - 3pm, so we would ideally need holiday cover too. 

We are looking for someone who:

- Has a keen eye for detail

- Preferably has cleaning experience 

- Who is driven and has a can-do attitude

- Who has an understanding of The Chocolate 
Smiths high standards and the importance of their job role
